About the position

CBS Television KDKA Pittsburgh is seeking a passionate Multi Skilled Journalist who excels in storytelling and aims to make a significant impact in the community. This role involves gathering news and information across various platforms, including TV, digital, and streaming, while effectively communicating stories through writing and live reporting. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong writing and reporting skills, capable of generating compelling enterprise stories and collaborating with a team of producers and managers.

Responsibilities

• Daily gathering of news and information for various platforms including TV, Digital and Streaming
• Effective communicator in the field with story composition and live reporting
• Ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines
• Excellent news judgment and problem-solving skills
• Key collaborator with a team of producers and managers
• Strong writing and reporting skills; proven ability to react to breaking news situations
• Skilled interviewer and creative storyteller
• Ability to shoot, write, and edit news stories
• Generate enterprise stories that are compelling and provide viewer benefit
• Build contacts in the community for developing impactful stories

Requirements

• College Degree preferred
• At least 3 years' experience as an MSJ reporting in a commercial broadcast setting
• Regular live reporting experience; daily live reporting preferred
• Proven experience generating enterprise or investigative story angles
• Knowledge of social media and its use for promotion to broadcast and web
• Experience writing for the web
• Knowledge of iNews rundown systems and Grass Valley Stratus, and Edius editing solutions preferred
• Experience with emerging media techniques and equipment in a newsroom setting a plus
• Must be able to work all shifts
