The Multi-Media Journalist (MMJ) for Sanford Health News is responsible for researching, developing, editing, writing, and shooting daily video stories for Sanford Health News. This position may also host Sanford Health News programs including podcasts and produce television quality programming that is shared via the website and internal channels. This work includes conducting interviews, developing and writing news stories, taking photos/videos, and producing stories on Sanford Health's news and events. The Multi-Media Journalist reports to the News Director and works as a key member of the Sanford Health News team in the marketing department. This role will present Sanford Health stories in written, video, and podcast formats; and will participate in all "live" news conferences and announcements as a member of the media, representing Sanford Health. The MMJ will ensure content ties all stories together in a cohesive, strategic manner. The MMJ will maintain a strong presence across multiple social media platforms to advance the mission of Sanford Health and promote the brand. The MMJ will meet with the News Manager or Director, writers, reporters, photographers, videographers, and other stakeholders to identify story ideas. They will create original news stories; gather information for news stories using subject matter experts, contacts, and leads (which includes staff and patients). The MMJ will actively participate in daily news huddles, build contacts and sources within the assigned areas of responsibilities, and develop, write, and produce stories within assigned deadlines. They will deliver news reports, including live reports, demonstrating energy, confidence, professional appearance, and voice equality. The MMJ will write, shoot, and edit their own news stories for an assigned newscast or news series, combining video, audio, and graphics to tell the story effectively. They will work with a photographer or videographer on occasion and with the assignment editor for prioritization and scheduling of all stories. Additionally, the MMJ will host podcasts as assigned, serving as the lead interviewer and host and producer, manage the general upkeep of assigned company equipment, and promote stories aggressively via social media accounts. Compliance with other job-related responsibilities as assigned is also expected.
