The Multi-Skilled Journalist position at TEGNA Inc. involves covering climate change and environmental issues in the Pacific Northwest. The journalist will build a network of sources, conduct impactful investigations, and deliver compelling content that resonates with the community.

Responsibilities

• Develop and produce daily stories about climate change and the environment.
• Produce high quality stories for KGW's news broadcasts, digital platforms, and social media.
• Use social media and digital tools to research, discover, and distribute content.
• Build sources to routinely break news and uncover new stories.
• Shoot, write, produce, and edit on-air and online content within deadlines.
• Identify, write, and produce stories within a specific framework.
• Research for facts and credibility.
• Maintain and develop sources to enhance reporting.
• Use creative production techniques to enhance stories.
• Write in an exciting, captivating, and authentic manner.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in journalism.
• Strong knowledge of environmental topics and issues.
• Proven ability to shoot and edit high-quality video stories.
• Ability to use compelling graphics to tell complex stories.
• Ability to conduct creative, engaging, and content-driven live shots.
• Strong social media presence and skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Adobe Photoshop and After Effects for graphic creation.
• Ability to work well both independently and with a team.
