About the position

D.R. Horton, Inc., the largest homebuilder in the U.S., is seeking a Multifamily-Paralegal to join its DHI Communities division in Arlington, TX. This role is essential in providing support for the Multifamily and Build-to-Rent acquisition, development, and disposition operations. The Multifamily-Paralegal will undertake typical paralegal tasks and interact with executive leadership, in-house legal counsel, and regional operations personnel. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing various legal documents and processes, ensuring compliance and efficiency in operations. The Multifamily-Paralegal will be tasked with requesting and reviewing title and survey documents for acquisition and disposition activities. They will also review draft purchase and sale contracts from outside legal counsel, manage the due diligence process, and prepare land acquisition packages for corporate review and approval. Additionally, the role involves preparing and submitting Notice of Suitability (NOS) packages, updating weekly contract status reports, and performing file management tasks. The candidate will support Development personnel in project management activities, organize and maintain correspondence, and manage seller/broker/owner contact files. Furthermore, they will prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual acquisition/disposition reports, manage archives and file storage, and conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to enhance customer service and the company's goodwill. This position requires a strong ability to work overtime and manage multiple tasks efficiently. The Multifamily-Paralegal will play a crucial role in ensuring that all legal and operational processes are executed smoothly, contributing to the overall success of DHI Communities.

Responsibilities

  • Request and review title and survey for acquisition and disposition activity
  • Review draft purchase and sale contracts from outside legal counsel
  • Manage due diligence process and checklist updates
  • Prepare and submit land acquisition packages for corporate review and approval
  • Prepare and submit Notice of Suitability (NOS) packages for corporate review and approval
  • Prepare and update weekly contract status report
  • Perform file management

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • Two years of paralegal or related experience required
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email
  • Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
