About the position

The Multimedia Designer/Programmer-Video Specialist at Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. (SPA) is responsible for creating and developing multimedia content for NATO's Learning Management System. This role involves collaborating with instructional designers to transform storyboards into interactive web-based courses, ensuring alignment with NATO's standards and security policies. The position requires expertise in multimedia software, video editing, and web development, with a focus on enhancing user experience through innovative design solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Apply understanding of target audience needs to conceptualize designs and multimedia elements.
  • Collaborate with the LT section to convert finalized storyboards into online multimedia formats.
  • Design and synchronize course elements, interactions, and navigation tools in collaboration with the Instructional Designer.
  • Transform traditional classroom materials into interactive, web-based courses that are instructionally sound.
  • Utilize audio and video editing software to develop multimedia assets for interactive courseware production.
  • Implement emerging technology methods and tools in support of NATO education and training.
  • Review and edit content for consistency, adhering to graphic design principles and UI/UX standards.
  • Conduct user tests on designs and multimedia elements, gathering feedback for enhancements.
  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and implement web elements using HTML, CGI, and JavaScript.
  • Ensure designs are optimized for various devices and screen sizes, staying updated with design trends.
  • Provide Multimedia Designer support and quality checks for external course providers.
  • Facilitate training sessions on graphic design principles and multimedia essentials.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for designs, code, or processes for future reference.
  • Engage with clients and participate in meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Offer design solutions for the Learning Management System and provide graphic design support.
  • Prepare and organize files for course translation, ensuring readiness for multilingual adaptation.

Requirements

  • Active National or NATO Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or graphic design, or minimum of five years of vocational training in related subjects.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in web-based multimedia development for online courses.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience using video and audio editing tools with examples of work.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and troubleshooting SCORM compliant issues.
  • Experience in the SCORM standard and ability to design to its structure.
  • Fluent in English (Written and Oral).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with artificial intelligence and extended reality in multimedia design.
  • Multilingual capabilities beyond English.
