About the position

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a talented Multimedia/Graphic Designer to join the Office of Communications (OCOM) team. This role involves providing advanced graphic design services and producing high-quality visual, textual, and animated content across various platforms while ensuring adherence to brand identity standards. The designer will also maintain the DHHS Forms website and coordinate with the State Print Shop, contributing to impactful communication efforts for the state.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with stakeholders to determine project scope and develop artwork based on internal client needs.
  • Conduct research on media techniques and design ideas.
  • Develop multimedia content ideas for various projects including booklets, brochures, flyers, ad campaigns, and more.
  • Create engaging materials that align with brand identity standards.
  • Maintain the DHHS Forms website and coordinate orders with the State Print Shop.

Requirements

  • Vocational/Technical diploma or Associates Degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, graphic arts, digital media, videography, or related field.
  • At least one year of experience in conducting public relations, information, or graphic art activities, with required experience potentially substituting for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), and Canva.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating advanced visual design and layout skills as well as advanced design techniques.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, organization, time management, and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic design/art, journalism, printing, photography or related fields.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years' experience working in a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of web publishing software and recording, editing, and encoding audio files.
