About the position

Telemundo Arizona is seeking a Multimedia Journalist who will be responsible for producing and presenting news content across various platforms. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of television news production, strong writing and communication skills, and experience in on-camera reporting. The journalist will manage all aspects of news gathering, including shooting, editing, and presenting stories, while adhering to NBCUniversal's ethical guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Manage shooting, lighting, writing, and editing daily stories.
• Set up, work, and manage live shots independently.
• Write, produce, and present fair, balanced, unbiased, and correct news and feature stories.
• Follow the ethics, news guidelines, and policies of NBCUniversal in journalism.
• Stay informed about local and national news events.
• Develop and maintain a network of contacts for exclusive stories.
• Investigate information to establish facts and determine truth.
• Provide on-air news in the studio and conduct frequent field shoots.
• Draft stories, headlines, and news updates for television, online, digital, and social media platforms.
• File stories for OTT (Over the Top) Platforms.
• Present breaking news to viewers during live and outside regularly scheduled newscasts.
• Keep up with current events and news in the state.
• Send a daily email to the assignment desk with enterprise story proposals.
• Make phone calls to set up interviews, including outside regular working hours.
• Work cooperatively as a team member in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
• Participate in community and station events, including acting as an emcee or host when requested.
• Respond quickly to breaking news and interact with the assignment desk, producers, reporters, anchors, and production control room personnel.
• Follow news department protocols to execute excellence in journalism.
• Maintain technical equipment for optimal operating conditions.

Requirements

• Minimum two years of experience as a reporter in a Spanish top 50 broadcast television market.
• BS/BA in journalism/Communications.
• Strong motivation and belief in creative ideas, with the skills to express them.
• Independent problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities.
• Effective teamwork skills in a team-oriented environment.
• Solid news editorial judgment.
• Strong Spanish writing and verbal skills.
• Excellent driving record and active driver's license.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule in a 24/7 news environment, including weekends with short notice.
• Willingness to work in Tucson, AZ.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to travel as required.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and the internet.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Thorough understanding of the current broadcast and digital media landscape.
• Ability to ad-lib and improvise in various on-air situations.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) with a prominent level of skill in Spanish.
