About the position

Gray Media is a leading media company that owns and operates high-quality stations in 113 television markets, reaching 36 percent of US television households. KBJR, located in Duluth, MN, is seeking a Multimedia Journalist who is a dynamic storyteller capable of gathering news for broadcast, web, and future platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering top-notch stories to our market, ensuring that they meet the high standards expected by our audience. As a Multimedia Journalist, you will gather, shoot, and edit content for multiple platforms, pitch and research stories daily, and write stories tailored for different media. You will be expected to organize material and write according to prescribed editorial style and format standards. Confirming information for your stories is crucial, as is the ability to fill in on different shifts when needed. You will evaluate news leads and tips to develop story ideas, gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation, and research, and report live on the scene when necessary. Updating stories as needed and representing the station at public functions will also be part of your responsibilities. Other reasonable duties may be assigned by the manager as required.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Computer literacy required, including knowledge of ENPS news system
  • Knowledge of broadcast-quality camera equipment
  • Experience editing video on Edius or similar equipment
  • Strong broadcast and AP-style writing skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Must have a valid driver's license
