About the position

KBTX Media is seeking an experienced multimedia journalist to join its trusted news team in the Brazos Valley. The role involves creating original content across multiple platforms, demonstrating strong news judgment, and engaging with the local community. The ideal candidate will also mentor other journalists and contribute to both on-air and online storytelling, focusing on uncovering the human side of news stories.

Responsibilities

• Write, shoot, edit, and present compelling content for both on-air and online platforms.
• Identify and research the day's most important stories relevant to the audience.
• Generate daily stories and content, including regular enterprise reporting.
• Meet daily and weekly deadlines in a fast-paced environment with a strong digital focus.
• Develop both long and short-term investigations.

Requirements

• Two years of experience in a TV newsroom.
• Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or a related field.
• Experience in reviewing legal/court documents and submitting open records requests.
• Established presence on digital platforms.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with ENPS, BitCentral, and Grass Valley EDUIS.
• Strong people skills and ability to work as a team player.
