About the position

KCTV5 is seeking a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) to join their team in Fairway, KS. The role involves researching, shooting, writing, and editing daily news reports for television, digital, and social media platforms. The ideal candidate will pitch compelling story ideas, develop community contacts, and handle breaking news coverage. This position requires strong writing skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines, as well as the capability to fill in as an anchor for various news shows.

Responsibilities

• Research, shoot, write, and edit daily news reports for television, digital, and social platforms.
• Pitch interesting and compelling story ideas that align with the station's brand.
• Develop contacts and sources within the community.
• Handle breaking news and live field coverage effectively.
• Fill in as an anchor on various news shows as needed.
• Post on social media and write web stories to accompany on-air content.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of experience as a professional Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) in a broadcast news station.
• Ability to shoot, write, and edit news packages for air.
• Strong writing skills and ability to work under deadline pressure.
• Fantastic newsroom citizenship and teamwork.
