About the position

KKCO/KJCT, the leading television station in the Grand Junction/Montrose market, is seeking a passionate Multimedia Journalist to join our dynamic team. This role is essential for delivering high-quality news coverage across various platforms, emphasizing accuracy and storytelling. The successful candidate will be responsible for reporting on a wide range of daily news stories, including breaking news, and will engage with the community through social media and live broadcasts. The position requires a strong individual who can operate independently, utilizing a 'one man band' setup to capture and edit video content for both television and digital platforms. As a Multimedia Journalist, you will be expected to generate unique story ideas and deliver compelling news segments that resonate with our audience. Your responsibilities will include daily news photography, video editing, and publishing content to our station's website and social media channels. You will also represent KKCO at station-sponsored events, promoting our brand and engaging with the community. This role demands flexibility, as you will be required to work weekends, holidays, and non-business hours as needed. Responsibilities

  • Find and report unique stories for daily news coverage.
  • Deliver live information on television using a 'one man band' setup.
  • Edit video for broadcast and digital platforms.
  • Engage with the audience on social media.
  • Shoot video using professional cameras for broadcast.
  • Post content to the station's website and social media.
  • Appear at station-sponsored events to promote the station and brand.
  • Work weekends, holidays, and non-business hour shifts as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field (preferred).
  • Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
  • Strong communication and people skills.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Competitive, energetic, and self-starter with a willingness to learn.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
