About the position

KMOV is seeking a Multimedia Journalist who will be responsible for creating, researching, writing, shooting, editing, and reporting news-oriented material for both live and taped presentations. This role is crucial in collaborating with the Content Center, producers, and managers to develop and execute compelling stories that resonate with our audience. The ideal candidate will be creative, smart, inquisitive, organized, and passionate about journalism. As a Multimedia Journalist, you will coordinate story development with producers, report on assigned stories in a clear and concise manner, and gather news by developing ideas and contacting outside sources for facts. You will also prepare scripts, shoot, and edit stories, ensuring that the content is engaging and informative. The position requires a strong on-air presence and the ability to create memorable stories that connect with KMOV's viewers. This role is based in St. Louis, Missouri, a city known for its vibrant culture, low cost of living, and as a great place for new college graduates. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate story development with producers and the Content Center.
  • Report on assigned stories live and on tape in a clear and concise manner.
  • Develop ideas for stories and gather facts from outside sources for on-air and online reporting.
  • Prepare scripts, shoot, and edit stories for broadcast.
  • Create and report memorable stories that resonate with KMOV's viewers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism or Communications.
  • Minimum two years experience as a Multimedia Journalist or reporter.
  • Experience with Edius, Avid, i-news, and internet production tools.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Strong writing, editing, and shooting skills, along with good news-gathering skills.
  • Strong on-air presence and creative storytelling abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to follow through on projects until completion.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a fast-paced news environment.
  • Familiarity with digital media and social media platforms for news dissemination.
