About the position

WTVC is seeking a dedicated and talented Multi-Media Journalist (MMJ) to join our dynamic news team. As an MMJ, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality news content to our audience across various platforms. Your primary responsibilities will include reporting, shooting, and editing news stories, as well as generating original story ideas and developing valuable contacts within the community. You will be expected to produce daily content that engages our viewers on television, the internet, social networking sites, and mobile devices. This position requires a proactive approach to news gathering and storytelling, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of local news coverage. In this role, you will utilize your sharp news judgment to identify and pursue compelling stories that resonate with our audience. You will be responsible for crafting narratives that adhere to NPPA style guidelines, showcasing your ability to tell impactful stories through visual and audio elements. Excellent technical skills are essential, as you will be working with various equipment and software to shoot and edit video content. Additionally, you must be able to work independently, demonstrating initiative and creativity in your reporting. To succeed in this position, you must maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving record, as you will be required to travel to various locations for news coverage. Your experience and skills will contribute to our mission of providing accurate and timely news to our viewers, and you will have the opportunity to grow and develop within our organization.

Responsibilities

  • Report, shoot, and edit news stories.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years reporting experience is required.
  • Experience with live shots is required.
  • Excellent technical skills in video shooting and editing.
  • Sharp news judgment and storytelling ability.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a good driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Live-U is a plus.
