About the position

As a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) at Spectrum News, you will be responsible for uncovering and reporting on local stories that matter to the community. This role involves engaging with community members, pitching stories, writing, shooting, interviewing, and editing content for various platforms including TV and digital media. You will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a supportive team to deliver timely and accurate news coverage.

Responsibilities

• Pitch story ideas and develop engaging content for various platforms.
• Conduct interviews and gather information from community members.
• Shoot and edit video content using appropriate software.
• Write scripts and news articles for broadcast and digital platforms.
• Work under tight deadlines and adapt to breaking news situations.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure comprehensive coverage of local issues.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in television news reporting.
• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in video shooting and editing software.
• Strong communication skills, both on camera and in writing.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
• Willingness to travel to cover stories and engage with the community.
• Valid driver's license for authorized driving.
