About the position

As a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) at Spectrum News, you will be responsible for uncovering and telling compelling stories that matter to your local community. This role involves engaging with community members, pitching stories, writing, shooting, interviewing, and editing content for various platforms including TV and digital. You will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a supportive team to deliver timely and accurate news coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with community members to uncover and report on local issues.
  • Pitch, write, shoot, interview, and edit news stories across multiple platforms.
  • Work collaboratively with a team to create compelling news coverage.
  • Maintain flexibility in deadlines and adapt to breaking news situations.
  • Utilize social media effectively to enhance storytelling and audience engagement.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in television news reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or comparable television work experience.
  • Ability to shoot videos and understand video editing software.
  • Effective communication skills on camera and through writing.
  • An innate curiosity and urgency in creating compelling stories.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license for authorized driving in the state of residence.
