About the position

As a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) at Spectrum News 13, you will be responsible for uncovering and reporting on local stories that matter to the community. This role involves engaging with community members, pitching stories, writing, shooting, interviewing, and editing content for various platforms including TV and digital media. You will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a supportive team to deliver timely and accurate news coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Pitch, write, shoot, interview, and edit news stories for various platforms.
  • Engage with community members to uncover important local issues.
  • Work under tight deadlines and adapt to breaking news situations.
  • Utilize social media effectively to enhance storytelling and audience engagement.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality news coverage.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in television news reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or comparable television work experience.
  • Ability to shoot videos and understand video editing software.
  • Effective communication skills on camera and through writing.
  • An innate curiosity and urgency in creating compelling stories.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license for authorized driving in the State of residence.
