About the position

As a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) at Spectrum News, you will be responsible for uncovering and reporting on important local stories that matter to the community. This role involves engaging with community members, pitching, writing, shooting, interviewing, and editing news content across various platforms including television and digital media. You will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a supportive team to deliver timely and accurate news coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Pitch, write, shoot, interview, and edit news stories.
  • Engage with community members to uncover important local issues.
  • Produce content for television, connected television, and digital platforms.
  • Work under tight deadlines and adapt to breaking news situations.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in television news reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or comparable television work experience.
  • Ability to shoot videos and understand video editing software.
  • Effective communication skills on camera and through writing.
  • Innate curiosity and urgency in creating compelling stories.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license for authorized driving.
