About the position

As a Multimedia Journalist at Spectrum News, you will be responsible for uncovering and reporting on important local stories. This role involves engaging with the community, conducting interviews, and producing high-quality content across various platforms, including television and digital media. You will take ownership of the storytelling process from start to finish, working collaboratively with a team to deliver timely and accurate news coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Pitching story ideas and developing news content.
  • Conducting interviews and gathering information from community members.
  • Shooting and editing video content for broadcast and digital platforms.
  • Writing scripts and news articles for various media formats.
  • Collaborating with team members to ensure comprehensive news coverage.
  • Maintaining a flexible schedule to accommodate breaking news and community events.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in television news reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or comparable television work experience.
  • Proficiency in video shooting and editing software.
  • Strong communication skills, both on camera and in writing.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a 24-hour news channel.
  • National news experience.
