The Multimedia Journalist/Reporter is responsible for producing, reporting, shooting, writing, voicing, editing, and feeding news production content across all platforms. This role requires a clear, engaging, and meaningful presentation of news to consumers. The journalist will report on news stories for broadcast, providing detailed descriptions of events and their backgrounds. This includes arranging interviews with individuals who can provide valuable information about the stories being covered. The journalist will also review and correct errors in content, grammar, and punctuation, adhering to prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines. In addition to reporting, the journalist will evaluate notes taken during events to isolate pertinent facts and details. They will determine the emphasis, length, and format of stories, organizing material accordingly. Researching and analyzing background information related to news stories is crucial to ensure the provision of complete and accurate information. The journalist will gather information about events through various means, including research, interviews, and attendance at political, news, sports, artistic, and social functions. The role also involves pitching relevant stories to news managers and producers, receiving assignments, and evaluating leads and tips to develop story ideas. The journalist will discuss issues with producers and news managers to establish priorities or positions, check reference materials for relevant facts, and revise work to meet editorial approval or fit time requirements. Shooting and editing news events and reports, producing and presenting reports for all platforms, and ensuring that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the journalist will write stories for web and other eMedia platforms, interact with viewers on social media, and perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
