About the position

As a Multimedia Journalist at Spectrum News, you will engage with your local community to uncover and report on important stories. This role involves taking ownership of the entire storytelling process, from pitching and writing to shooting, interviewing, and editing. You will work collaboratively with a team to produce compelling and accurate news coverage across various platforms, including television and digital media.

Responsibilities

  • Pitch story ideas and develop engaging content.
  • Conduct interviews and gather information from community members.
  • Shoot and edit video content for news stories.
  • Write scripts and reports for broadcast and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate news coverage.
  • Utilize social media to promote stories and engage with the audience.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in television news reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or comparable television work experience.
  • Ability to shoot videos and understand video editing software.
  • Effective communication skills on camera and through writing.
  • An innate curiosity and urgency in storytelling.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license for authorized driving in the state of residence.
