About the position

As a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) at Spectrum News, you will engage with your local community to uncover and report on important stories. This role involves taking ownership of the entire storytelling process, from pitching and writing to shooting, interviewing, and editing. You will work collaboratively with a team to produce compelling and accurate news coverage across various platforms, including television and digital media.

Responsibilities

• Engage with community members to uncover and report on local stories.
• Pitch, write, shoot, interview, and edit news segments.
• Collaborate with a team to create timely and accurate news coverage.
• Utilize social media effectively to enhance storytelling.
• Work under tight deadlines and adapt to breaking news situations.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in television news reporting.
• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or comparable television work experience.
• Ability to shoot videos and understand video editing software.
• Effective communication skills on camera and through writing.
• Innate curiosity and urgency in creating compelling stories.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
• Valid driver's license for authorized driving in the state of residence.
