About the position

The Multimedia Journalist at Telemundo Arizona is responsible for producing and presenting news content across various platforms. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of television news production, strong writing and communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. The journalist will manage all aspects of news reporting, including shooting, editing, and presenting stories, while adhering to ethical journalism standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage shooting, lighting, writing, editing daily stories, and gathering material to build the story.
• Set up, work, and manage live shots independently.
• Write, produce, and present fair, balanced, unbiased, and correct news and feature stories.
• Follow the ethics, news guidelines, and policies of NBCUniversal in journalism.
• Stay informed about news events locally and nationally.
• Develop and maintain a network of contacts providing access to exclusive stories.
• Investigate information to establish facts and determine truth.
• Provide on-air news in the studio and conduct frequent field shoots.
• Draft stories, headlines, and news updates for television, online, digital, and social media platforms.
• File stories for OTT (Over the Top) Platforms.
• Present breaking news to viewers during live and outside regularly scheduled newscasts.
• Keep up with current events and news in the state.
• Send a daily email to the assignment desk with at least three enterprise story proposals.
• Make phone calls to set up interviews, potentially outside of regular working hours.
• Work cooperatively as a team member in a fast-paced environment and under tight daily deadlines.
• Participate in community and station events, and occasionally act as an emcee and host as requested.
• Respond quickly to breaking news and interact with the assignment desk, producers, reporters, anchors, and production control room personnel.
• Maintain technical equipment for optimal operating conditions, including company vehicles, cameras, and lighting gear.

Requirements

• Minimum two years of experience as a reporter in a Spanish top 50 broadcast television market.
• BS/BA in journalism/Communications.
• Strong belief in creative ideas with the skills and confidence to express them.
• Independent problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities.
• Effective teamwork skills in a team-oriented environment.
• Solid news editorial judgment.
• Solid Spanish writing and verbal skills.
• Excellent driving record and active driver's license.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule in a 24/7 news environment, including weekends with short notice.
• Willingness to work in Tucson, AZ.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to travel as required.
