About the position

The Multimedia Journalist at Telemundo Nuevo Mexico is responsible for writing, editing, and reporting news stories across various platforms, including live reports. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of television news production and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. The journalist will gather information on newsworthy events, develop a network of contacts, and create content for both linear and non-linear platforms, ensuring fair and accurate reporting.

Responsibilities

• Gather information on newsworthy events.
• Develop and maintain a network of contacts providing access to exclusive stories.
• Write, produce, and present fair, accurate, and unbiased news stories as assigned.
• Prepare news information for presentation in the newscast and all digital platforms.
• Provide on-air news including both in studio and frequent field shoots.
• Create, report, and help produce news specials and packages based on breaking news or pre-planned stories.
• Create content for KASA non-linear platforms.
• Cover as a Photographer depending on Operation needs during team vacations and sick days.
• Assist producer in establishing sources and executing enterprise news investigations.
• Make phone calls to set up interviews, which may happen outside of regular working hours.
• Work nights and weekends as required.
• Participate in community events and station activities as requested.

Requirements

• BS/BA in Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, Communications or Broadcast Communications.
• Minimum 1 year of experience shooting with HD Cam.
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with film or video lighting.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a reporter in a top 50 market.
• Strong Spanish language skills (verbal & written).
• Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts.
• Working knowledge of I-news, Stratus, Avid, Edius or Adobe Premier.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and the internet.
• Unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
• Valid driver's license and excellent driving record.
