About the position

WPXI TV is seeking a passionate and energetic Multimedia Journalist to join their team in Pittsburgh. The role focuses on delivering impactful news, weather updates, and investigative stories that resonate with viewers. The journalist will be responsible for both on-air and online content, utilizing strong communication skills and a keen sense of curiosity to gather and present news effectively.

Responsibilities

• Display urgency and passion to deliver complete content quickly for digital and TV by deadlines.
• Create breaking news content and communicate updates to managers as stories are confirmed.
• Generate balanced, unbiased, and dependable content using a diverse range of sources.
• Enterprise original stories and develop sources while working a beat.
• Use strong interviewing skills and provide live or recorded content for radio.
• Demonstrate social media savvy and file content remotely using technology.
• Be flexible in scheduling to accommodate changing news events, including overtime work.
• Focus on the value in stories and present them authentically and creatively.
• Obtain interviews and perspectives from 'real people' for stories.
• Utilize strong videography and video editing skills alongside writing skills.

Requirements

• Strong speaking voice with clear articulation and proper grammar.
• Experience with tripod use, cell phone video shooting, and audio.
• Valid driver's license and clear driving record.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Avid I-news and editing preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related major preferred.
• 3 years of professional television reporting experience.
