About the position

WSAW-TV, the CBS/FOX/CW affiliate in Wausau, WI, is seeking a full-time multimedia journalist to join our award-winning news operation. This role is pivotal in setting up stories, shooting, and gathering information in the field, both as part of a team and independently. The multimedia journalist will be responsible for editing videos for our on-air and digital platforms, including our website and social media channels. We are looking for a candidate with a creative eye who can connect well with people and is passionate about telling compelling stories that resonate with our audience. In this position, the multimedia journalist will engage in various tasks, including editing video on a non-linear platform, entering timely and impactful local stories, and shooting and gathering information in the field. The role also involves operating TVU Live gear and laptop editors, as well as utilizing live technology to enhance our news coverage. Collaboration is key, as the journalist will work closely with anchors, producers, and the assignment desk manager to develop and execute stories. Additionally, the multimedia journalist will be responsible for posting content and videos to our digital platforms, ensuring that our audience receives timely updates and engaging content. The ideal candidate will thrive in a high-energy environment, be capable of working under pressure, and meet daily deadlines. Strong communication skills, solid news judgment, and the ability to multi-task efficiently are essential for success in this role. Physical demands include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, which is necessary for handling equipment and materials in the field. Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as ENPS, Grass Valley Edius, Sony XDCAM cameras, Arc Publishing, and Social News Desk is preferred, but not mandatory. Requirements
