WSAZ-TV, a dominant #1 station in the Charleston, WV area, is seeking a full-time multimedia journalist who is passionate about storytelling. The multimedia journalist will be expected to ask tough questions while also connecting with the community to tell impactful stories about the human condition. The candidate must be able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced news environment. The multimedia journalist will present information in a fair and unbiased manner, ensuring accuracy and viewer interest. Responsibilities include developing story ideas for morning and afternoon news meetings, reporting live from the field, and participating in post-story debriefs. The candidate should have strong writing, shooting, and editing skills, as well as the ability to post stories online and read from a computer monitor. Collaboration with news consultants to enhance on-air presence and establishing contacts within the community are also key aspects of the role. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism or a related field is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in journalism is preferred.
  • Ability to present a professional image as a representative of WSAZ-TV.
  • Ability to handle moderate stress and meet daily and long-range deadlines.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to contribute meaningful content daily.
