About the position

WVVA Television, located in Bluefield, WV, is seeking an ambitious and motivated Multimedia Journalist to join our award-winning team. As a part of Gray Television, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality news coverage that resonates with our viewers. The successful candidate will be a dynamic storyteller capable of gathering news across multiple platforms, including on-air, web, and social media. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in all aspects of TV news, including anchoring and utilizing state-of-the-art technology. In this position, you will be responsible for generating leadable and original story ideas on a daily basis. Strong research skills and the ability to employ critical thinking are essential as you dig deeper into incoming news tips. You will be expected to shoot, write, edit, and post stories, pictures, and videos to serve our audience effectively. Developing sources within the community to gain unique insights and report on important issues is a key part of this role. As a Multimedia Journalist, you will also appear on air and coordinate live shots, working well under pressure in deadline-driven situations. Connecting with the audience is crucial, and you must work with a sense of immediacy while exhibiting sound news judgment and ethics. There is potential for you to regularly anchor newscasts as needed, making this a versatile and exciting opportunity for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or related field preferred
  • Some experience as a Multimedia Journalist and anchor preferred
  • Exceptional news judgment
  • Professional knowledge of broadcast news operations is a plus
  • Knowledge of ENPS and Edius preferred
  • Must have a valid driver's license and pass driver's record check
