About the position

News 12 is seeking a Multimedia Journalist who is proactive and self-motivated, capable of generating story ideas, developing sources, and producing content for various platforms, including social media. The role emphasizes deep engagement with community issues and delivering impactful stories.

Responsibilities

• Shoot, write and edit news stories clearly and creatively.
• Operate assigned camera and editing gear.
• Generate story ideas and develop sources.
• Pursue leads and produce content for all platforms.
• Write web/digital copy for all stories.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism or Communications preferred; Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum one year full-time professional news reporting experience.
• Ability to work independently in a multimedia environment.
• Proficiency in editing on non-linear systems like Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premier.
• Knowledge of local and national current events and issues.
• Understanding of libel laws and ethical foundations of journalism.
• Excellent news writing ability for all platforms, including social media.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 40lbs.
