The Multimedia Journalist position at Indiana University is a full-time role based in Bloomington, Indiana, within the WFIU/WTIU Newsroom, the largest public media newsroom in the state. The successful candidate will be responsible for covering local government meetings and reporting on city and county government affairs, contributing to the newsroom's commitment to comprehensive and accurate journalism. In this role, the journalist will create stories for multiple media platforms, including radio, television, podcasts, and online productions. This involves independently seeking out news stories, conducting thorough research, interpreting conflicting data, and pitching story ideas. The journalist will write in-depth articles and prepare related program materials for broadcast, which may require fieldwork and interviews. It is essential that all produced materials adhere to professional journalistic standards, including accuracy, ethics, fairness, objectivity, and balance. Additionally, the Multimedia Journalist will serve as a consultant to Indiana Public Broadcasting stations, coordinating contributions to national and regional networks. The role may also involve managing partnerships with news organizations to ensure diverse news coverage across Indiana. The journalist may review peer stories and provide constructive feedback, as well as manage social media content and engagement to enhance the newsroom's outreach and visibility.
