About the position

The Multi-Media Journalist (MMJ) position at KATU/KUNP in Salem, Oregon, involves reporting, shooting, and editing news stories, with a focus on statewide issues and the statehouse during sessions. The role requires producing daily content across various platforms, including television, the internet, and social media, while also developing contacts and generating story ideas.

Responsibilities

• Report, shoot, and edit news stories.
• Develop and enterprise story ideas.
• Build and maintain contacts for news coverage.
• Produce daily content for multiple platforms including television, internet, and social media.
• Cover statewide issues and the statehouse when in session.
• Provide content for both KATU and KVAL/KMTR as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years reporting and shooting experience.
• Experience with live shots is required.
• Sharp news judgment and the ability to tell an NPPA style story.
• Excellent technical skills and ability to work independently.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a good driving record.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Live-U is a plus.
• Experience with AVID editing is a plus.
