About the position

KMPH is seeking a Multi-Media Journalist (MMJ) to join our dynamic team in Central California. This role is designed for an innovative storyteller who is eager to enhance their skills and elevate their career in journalism. As an MMJ, you will be responsible for reporting, shooting, and editing news stories, as well as developing original story ideas and building contacts within the community. You will also contribute content to KMPH's digital and social media platforms, ensuring that our storytelling reaches a wide audience. The ideal candidate will possess sharp news judgment and the ability to craft compelling narratives in the NPPA style. Excellent technical skills are essential, as you will be working independently to produce high-quality news segments. Additionally, you should be a strong writer with the capability to learn how to produce newscasts, stepping in as a fill-in anchor and producer when necessary. This position requires flexibility, as you must be willing to work weekends and adapt to the fast-paced nature of news reporting. To succeed in this role, you must maintain a valid driver's license and a good driving record, as travel may be required for various assignments. We are looking for someone who is not only passionate about journalism but also committed to delivering accurate and engaging news content to our viewers.

Responsibilities

  • Report, shoot, and edit news stories.
  • Develop original story ideas and contacts.
  • Contribute content to KMPH's digital and social platforms.
  • Work as a fill-in anchor and producer as needed.
  • Produce newscasts when required.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year of reporting experience is required.
  • Experience with live shots is required.
  • Excellent technical skills in shooting and editing news stories.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to learn newscast production.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a good driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Live-U is a plus.
  • Ability to think outside the box in storytelling.
