About the position

KBTX Media is seeking an experienced multimedia journalist to join its leading news team in the Brazos Valley. The role focuses on delivering original and imaginative content across multiple platforms while also providing mentorship to other journalists. The ideal candidate will engage with the local community and contribute to both on-air and online storytelling, emphasizing the human aspect of news stories.

Responsibilities

• Write, shoot, edit, and present compelling content for both on-air and online platforms.
• Identify and source the day's most important stories relevant to the audience.
• Research, write, and edit daily content for television and digital platforms.
• Generate daily stories and content, along with regular enterprise reporting.
• Meet daily and weekly deadlines in a fast-paced environment with a strong digital focus.
• Develop both long and short-term investigations, focusing on uncovering the human side of each story.
• Mentor other journalists in the newsroom and engage with local organizations and nonprofits.

Requirements

• Two years of experience in a TV newsroom.
• A college degree in broadcast journalism or a related field.
• Experience in reviewing legal/court documents and submitting open records requests.
• Established presence on digital platforms.
• Experience with ENPS, BitCentral, and Grass Valley EDUIS is a plus.
• Strong work ethic and people skills, with the ability to be a team player.
