About the position

KCTV5 is seeking a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) who will be responsible for researching, shooting, writing, and editing daily news reports for television, digital, and social media platforms. The role requires pitching compelling story ideas, developing community contacts, and handling breaking news coverage. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, experience in a broadcast news environment, and the ability to perform live shots and fill-in anchor duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Research, shoot, write, and edit daily news reports for television, digital, and social media platforms.
• Pitch interesting and compelling story ideas that align with the station's brand.
• Develop contacts and sources within the community.
• Handle breaking news and live field coverage effectively.
• Fill-in anchor on various news shows as required.
• Post on social media and write accompanying web stories for on-air content.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of experience as a professional MMJ in a broadcast news station.
• Ability to shoot, write, and edit news packages for air.
• Strong writing skills and ability to work under deadline pressure.
• Excellent newsroom citizenship.
