KXII-TV News 12 is seeking a multimedia journalist to help bring the stories that matter to Texomans into their homes and onto our digital platforms from our Ardmore, Okla. newsroom. This is a full-time, on-air news reporting position working directly under the news director and anchors with producers. You'll learn the ropes from an experienced, award-winning news team, and tell stories that air in the market's top-rated newscasts, as well as contribute your material onto our digital platforms. The role is crucial as it involves not just reporting but also engaging with the community through various media channels. The multimedia journalist will be expected to write, shoot, and edit stories independently for daily newscasts, the website, and social media platforms. This position is not just about delivering news; it’s about connecting with the audience and ensuring that the content is relevant and engaging. In addition to traditional reporting duties, the multimedia journalist will be responsible for posting and regularly updating stories and other material on our digital properties. This includes utilizing social media sites, such as Facebook, to report stories and interact with viewers, thereby enhancing the station's presence in the community. The journalist will also be expected to research, gather, and provide information in the most accurate, appealing, timely, and creative way using all available resources. Developing and maintaining sources of information and knowledge about assignments is essential for success in this role. The multimedia journalist will participate in the story selection process through meetings and contribute story ideas daily. Demonstrating sound news judgment and collaborating with others to present the story in the best way possible is a key aspect of the job. The role may require travel for assignments, and the journalist must be able to lift 35-40 lbs of gear. Recognizing that they are a high-profile representative of our news organization in the community, the journalist must conduct themselves in a professional and cordial manner at all times. Other duties may be assigned as needed, and the journalist should be prepared to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
