About the position

The Multimodality Technologist at Baylor Scott & White Health is responsible for performing imaging procedures in multiple disciplines, with a significant focus on advanced modalities such as CT, MR, Nuclear Medicine, or Interventional Radiology. This role requires adherence to established protocols to ensure high-quality imaging for the diagnosis of diseases and injuries. The position involves working under the supervision of a Radiologist and includes responsibilities such as patient communication, equipment maintenance, and compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high quality multimodality procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
  • Maintain production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.
  • Utilize AIDET when communicating with patients to ensure correct exams are performed and establish rapport.
  • Instruct and communicate with patients and their families regarding the tests to be performed.
  • Prepare patients and areas for procedures by positioning patients and adjusting equipment controls.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements and infection-control policies.
  • Use proper sterile techniques when performing invasive procedures and maintain hand hygiene.
  • Maintain equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards.
  • Work with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment.
  • Report issues to management or appropriate departments.
  • Assist in maintaining supplies inventory.
  • Ensure safety by screening individuals entering the department.
  • Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation for imaging procedures.
  • Maintain medical imaging records according to department policies.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology or related field.
  • Less than 1 year of experience in a relevant role.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).
  • Certification in two imaging modalities, working 50% of the time in the second modality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in multiple imaging modalities such as CT, MR, and Nuclear Medicine.
  • Ability to serve as a preceptor for new team members.
  • Experience in a Level 1 trauma center or pediatric hospital.
