About the position

The Municipal Credit and Investor Marketing Analyst role at Morgan Stanley is a senior position focused on new issue investor marketing and secondary market support within the Municipal Securities Division. The candidate will play a crucial role in managing relationships with investors, conducting credit analysis, and supporting the overall business functions of the division. This position requires a proactive approach to investor engagement and a deep understanding of municipal credit markets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead new issue investor marketing by collaborating with banking and syndicate teams to structure credit fundamentals and security packages.
  • Author or review credit sales memos and manage the new issue marketing process.
  • Proactively contact investors to facilitate diligence and explain deal parameters.
  • Host and arrange investor meetings during roadshows with issuers and banking teams.
  • Participate in new business proposals and meetings, presenting investor analytics and market trends.
  • Support secondary market idea generation through credit analysis and regular interaction with buy-side analysts and traders.
  • Manage portfolio of existing and prospective trading inventory and client financing positions, providing regular reporting to risk management.
  • Build and manage relationships with buy-side credit analysts and internal stakeholders across various functions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of municipal credit experience with a generalist ability across the credit spectrum.
  • Experience in healthcare, higher education, charter schools, project finance, affordable housing, land development, or structured credit is highly preferred.
  • Experience in buyside investing, sell-side desk research, insurance, or lending functions is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for effective relationship building across various functions.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize different mandates in a fast-paced environment.
  • General knowledge of the municipal market and a desire to grow as a credit professional.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in structured credit or project finance is a plus.
  • Familiarity with investor analytics and credit/market trends.
