About the position

The Museum Store Sales Associate at the Autry Museum of the American West is responsible for enhancing the visitor experience by supporting museum store sales and promotions. This part-time role involves providing customer service, processing sales, maintaining store organization, and assisting with inventory management. The associate will work during weekends, holidays, and special events, ensuring a welcoming environment for all visitors.

Responsibilities

• Perform opening and closing duties, including balancing the cash drawer
• Ring up store sales using a point-of-sale (POS) system
• Provide friendly and responsive customer service by answering customer and staff questions
• Relay customer concerns and vendor issues to store management
• Maintain the store floors organization and cleanliness, alerting store management of any facilities or supply issues
• Assist in the receipt and storing of new merchandise, keeping the stock room and offsite storage locations organized and neat, and assisting in annual inventory
• Prepare merchandise displays and maintain a running knowledge of current merchandise and vendors
• Stay up to date on Autry memberships, membership benefits and Museum exhibitions
• Perform administrative duties to support store management, including entering customer information into sales databases
• Capture content for Marketing department highlighting merchandise, vendors and artists featured at the Museum Store

Requirements

• High School degree or equivalent
• Two (2) to three (3) years of relevant customer service experience; experience working in museums, galleries, or arts institutions preferred
• Knowledge of web store platforms a plus
• Strong computer skills, including MS Excel and point-of-sale (POS) systems
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent sales and customer engagement skills
• Ability to communicate details regarding store merchandise using video and photography technology
