About the position

Fusion Academy is seeking a dedicated and passionate Music and Visual Arts Teacher for our accredited 6-12th grade school located in Folsom, CA. This part-time position offers an opportunity to work in a supportive, student-centered environment that emphasizes resourcefulness, critical thinking, self-awareness, and inclusion. The ideal candidate will be responsible for addressing the individual academic and emotional needs of each student through Fusion's differentiated approach to education. This is an on-site, in-person role, and there may be opportunities to work over the summer. The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00 per hour USD. As a Music and Visual Arts Teacher, you will provide one-on-one teaching experiences in various areas, including music creation (such as songwriting, composition, and beat making), audio recording, and music production, particularly in electronic music. Additionally, you will offer instrumental instruction for basic guitar and rudimentary keyboard skills. In the visual arts domain, you will teach drawing, oil and acrylic painting, entrepreneurial arts and crafts, and digital photography. Your role will also involve adapting and differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students, fostering a holistic growth environment. Maintaining accurate records and developing genuine, positive communication with parents are essential aspects of this position. You will contribute to the campus community and engage in ongoing professional development to enhance your teaching practices. Mentoring students will be a significant part of your responsibilities, and you will be expected to perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the school.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a one-to-one teaching experience in music creation, including songwriting, composition, beat making, audio recording, and music production.
  • Teach instrumental music instruction for basic guitar and rudimentary keyboard.
  • Deliver one-to-one teaching experiences in visual arts, including drawing, oil and acrylic painting, entrepreneurial arts and crafts, and digital photography.
  • Adapt and differentiate instruction for all students to support holistic growth.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of student progress and activities.
  • Develop and maintain positive communication with parents regarding student performance and needs.
  • Contribute to the campus community and participate in school events and activities.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and self-reflection to improve teaching practices.
  • Mentor students and provide guidance as a positive role model.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required for consideration.
  • Experience working with youth in one-on-one or group settings.
  • Teaching credentials are a plus but not mandatory.
  • Experience with students with learning differences and ADHD is a plus.
  • Mentoring experience is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
