About the position

The Music Focused Publicity and Communications Specialist at Dead Horse Branding is responsible for promoting and selling clients and products through strategic publicity efforts. This role involves managing multiple client accounts, developing PR plans, and executing high visibility strategies to increase brand awareness across various industries, particularly in music, design, fashion, and entertainment. The specialist will work closely with clients and various agency departments to ensure effective communication and project delivery, while also tracking the return on investment for PR initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement publicity strategies for company clients and events.
  • Create and manage PR plans, including budgets and timelines.
  • Manage client PR initiatives and activities.
  • Oversee the organization's public relations team and initiatives.
  • Draft communications and pitches for media outreach.
  • Liaise with clients to establish their goals and needs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media personnel.
  • Analyze client media coverage and report findings.
  • Represent the organization at media blitzes, events, and interviews.
  • Develop crisis management strategies for clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Marketing, or Journalism preferred.
  • Minimum of two years marketing experience in public relations, promotional planning, and implementation required.
  • Experience implementing PR campaigns and securing media coverage in various outlets.
  • Social media background preferred.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills required.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills (AP-style) with high attention to detail required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with differing deadlines required.
  • Independent and strategic thinker who is a strong team player.
  • Ability to cultivate and nurture relationships with media members.
  • Knowledge of the music industry and strong media contacts is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Apple products, Microsoft Office, Gmail, CisionPoint, Google Drive, Asana, Dropbox, Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of the music industry and strong relationships with key contacts in the press.
  • Experience in crisis management strategies.
