About the position

The Classroom Instructional Aide provides instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. The aide assists in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities, ensuring a supportive learning environment for students.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students under the direction of the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
• Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Make the teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Ability to work well with children.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Some experience working with children.

Nice-to-haves

• TOPS Training certificate or 48 College Hours.
