About the position

The Association of Test Preparation, Admissions, and Private Tutoring is seeking dedicated Music Instructors for our local school program in Milwaukee, WI. This position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities, allowing for flexibility in scheduling while providing essential music education to students in grades 6-12. As a Music Instructor, you will be responsible for leading small group classes, fostering a positive learning environment, and engaging with students to enhance their musical skills and appreciation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music education, experience working with children, and the ability to communicate effectively with both students and school staff. In this role, you will work closely with students, assisting them in their musical journey by implementing lesson plans, monitoring their progress, and providing constructive feedback. You will also be expected to maintain confidentiality regarding student records and respond appropriately in emergency situations. Your ability to model positive social behavior and adhere to school guidelines will be crucial in creating a supportive atmosphere for learning. Additionally, you will assist with the use of instructional equipment and complete necessary paperwork and recordkeeping to ensure a smooth operation of the music program. This position requires a passion for music and education, as well as a commitment to helping students succeed. Responsibilities

  • Work with children at a local school as a lead instructor.
  • Read, understand, and assist in implementing, recording, and monitoring student progress.
  • Communicate and engage with students and school staff in a friendly, effective, and professional manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records/information.
  • Respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Model and reinforce positive and age-appropriate social behavior when applicable to specific categorical programs/classrooms.
  • Follow company and partner district guidelines for appropriate procedures based on the School Health Handbook.
  • Assist with use of equipment needed to meet instructional needs.
  • Assist with paperwork and recordkeeping.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Earned Bachelor's Degree or have at least Junior Year Standing at a 4 year degree granting college plus music teaching experience.
  • Demonstrable expertise with at least one musical instrument.
  • Above average familiarity with music lessons and lesson planning.
  • Willingness and aptitude to work with students in a classroom setting.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to instruct grades K-8 students.
  • Strong ability to work both independently with little supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Tutoring experience with children.
  • Music therapy experience.
