About the position
The Music / Theater Elementary Long-Term Substitute Teacher at Compass Rose Public Schools is responsible for delivering engaging and culturally relevant instruction to elementary students in music and theater. This role aims to prepare students with the necessary academic and social skills for success in their communities and beyond. The teacher will work closely with students, families, and the community to ensure that educational practices align with the needs and desires of the community.
Responsibilities
- Set academic expectations that challenge students and create productive struggle.
- Implement an 80/20 classroom model where students engage in rigorous practice and take initiative in their learning.
- Convey accurate content knowledge in multiple contexts and integrate learning objectives with other disciplines.
- Adapt lessons to address the individual needs of all students and provide differentiated instructional methods.
- Create a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment with clear procedures and routines.
- Engage in community and restorative circles with students to build trust and advocate for their needs.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding academics, attendance, and social-emotional well-being.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-2 years of experience working with school-aged children
- Pass a criminal background check

Benefits
- Non-degreed daily rate: $135/day
- Degreed daily rate: $155/day
- Certified Teacher daily rate: $165/day
