About the position

The Music Therapist is responsible for providing group, individual, or family supportive therapy services to children and adolescents residing within CHOC's facilities or treatment areas. Develops and implements music therapy curriculum informed by the evidence-based models utilized on the unit. Collaborates with other interdisciplinary team members to develop and/or integrate individualized treatment plans. Develops suitable music programs for patients based on their needs, objectives, and preferred forms of creative expression.

Responsibilities

  • Provide group, individual, or family supportive therapy services to children and adolescents.
  • Develop and implement music therapy curriculum based on evidence-based models.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Create suitable music programs for patients based on their needs and preferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from an American Music Therapy Association approved University.
  • Music Therapist Certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • CPR Certification within 30 days of hire or transfer into position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Music Therapy from an American Music Therapy Association approved University.
  • Two years of professional experience as a music therapist.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
  • Internship, Fieldwork or Volunteer experience in the Pediatric setting.
