About the position

The Pediatric Creative Arts Therapist (Music Therapist) provides and promotes the creative arts therapies to support pediatric patients in processing emotions, creative self-expression, socialization, developing coping skills, and fostering emotional resilience while receiving medical care and treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and assesses patients within 24 hours of consult.
  • Formulates and implements an individualized treatment plan that leverages the unique modalities of creative arts therapy to address identified patient needs and improve overall functioning.
  • Creates and conducts personalized therapeutic interventions utilizing various creative modalities (art, music, drama, dance) based on patient needs, observations, and referrals.
  • Participates in Arts in Medicine events and collaborative programming with community arts partners.
  • Ensures accurate and up-to-date documentation of all patient sessions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy, Music Education, Psychology, Social Work, Human Development, Music, Theatre, Dance or related field.
  • Completion of an internship in music therapy.
  • MT-BC - Music Therapist-Board Certified within 1 Year Required.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Music Therapy.
  • Experience in a clinical setting, pediatrics a plus.
  • Multilingual.
