About the position

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center is seeking an experienced Music Director / Cabaret Director for the Junior Cabaret Fellows Program, aimed at high school students aged 15-18. This role involves devising and teaching music arrangements, creating curriculum, and managing the program, which includes master classes and performance opportunities. The Director will lead rehearsals, coordinate with staff, and ensure a safe and stimulating environment for the students, culminating in a performance at the Cabaret & Performance Conference.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Junior Cabaret Fellows program, including leading rehearsals and arranging music for performances.
• Identify and select student-performers alongside the Artistic Director and Line Producer.
• Serve as a pianist for student-performers during rehearsals and performances.
• Create a creatively stimulating 10-day conference curriculum and performance theme for the Junior Fellows.
• Coordinate with O'Neill staff regarding program needs, including travel, housing, and technical requirements.

Requirements

• Strong pedagogical skills in Cabaret performance.
• Excellent musicianship and strong piano skills.
• Highly organized and able to work well as a team.
• Ability to coach teens effectively.
