About the position

Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources is actively seeking to fill Active Treatment Technician positions at our Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) in Gulfport, MS. The Active Treatment Technician will work under the general supervision of a registered nurse while assisting consumers according to treatment plans. This position requires a Bachelor's degree and has a significant role in direct consumer care, being a fundamental element in providing a safe and therapeutic environment for consumers. The CSU operates as a 24-hour facility, which means that positions are available for all shifts, and working on weekends and holidays is required. For over 50 years, Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources has been dedicated to serving individuals throughout the Pine Belt region. Our mission is to enable adults with serious mental illnesses, children with serious emotional disturbances, and individuals with addiction or developmental disabilities to live, work, learn, and participate fully in their communities. Our service area spans eighteen counties, including Amite, Covington, Forrest, Franklin, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Jeff Davis, Jones, Lamar, Lawrence, Marion, Pear River, Perry, Pike, Stone, Walthall, and Wayne. The Active Treatment Technician plays a crucial role in the treatment process, ensuring that consumers receive the necessary support and care. This position is vital for maintaining a therapeutic environment and assisting in the overall well-being of the clients we serve.

Responsibilities

  • Accepts emergency/crisis calls and responds to front-line first responder needs via telephone.
  • Triages calls according to intensity, service needs, critical timing, and assignment of staff.
  • Assists residents in all areas of physical care and hygiene of patients.
  • Documents client behaviors observed during shift and charts into Electronic Medical Records.
  • Participates in activities for clients.
  • Prepares, gives, and participates in instructional training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Behavioral healthcare preferred
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record required
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills necessary to deal tactfully and effectively with people in crisis situations
  • Demonstrates ability to accept direction and responsibility for the care of consumers under treatment for psychiatric disorders.
