About the position
The Manager - Purchasing position at Schaeffler involves implementing and executing purchasing strategies and policies to ensure compliance and adherence to quality standards. The role focuses on managing plant-level purchasing metrics, developing supplier relationships, and optimizing resources to support both internal and external customers. This position is accountable for leading purchasing and supplier management functions at the Wooster Plant, with occasional travel required.
Responsibilities
- Implement and execute established purchasing strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Own and manage plant-level purchasing metrics focusing on cost savings, supply chain risk mitigation, quality, and delivery.
- Develop and strengthen the supplier base and purchasing partnerships, overseeing new supplier onboarding.
- Plan, prioritize resources, and initiate improvement actions to support customers while optimizing budgets and processes.
- Make quick decisions and take ownership of issues until resolved.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Technical Field, or Supply Chain.
- Demonstrated experience in a Purchasing Leadership position within a plant environment.
- Self-motivated, driven, and assertive with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Technical knowledge of the automotive industry and business acumen.
- Experience in purchasing, negotiation, supplier management, and/or development.
- SAP Purchasing/ERP experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to train, mentor, and grow subordinates.
