About the position

The Project Manager IV in the Research and Technology Implementation Division at the Texas Department of Transportation is responsible for managing complex research projects that influence technologies, processes, policies, specifications, and materials. This role involves overseeing projects from conception to implementation, ensuring successful integration of project deliverables into TxDOT's operations while maintaining accountability for the work product.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex research projects impacting technologies, processes, policies, specifications, and materials.
• Coordinate projects from initial concept through implementation, monitoring progress, scope, and schedule.
• Communicate with project monitoring committee members, academic researchers, project stakeholders, and management.
• Represent the Department in interagency groups, technical committees, or special task forces.
• Conduct program or project analyses and recommend solutions to increase productivity and efficiency.
• Develop contract requirements or specifications in support of research projects.
• Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project goals.
• Lead the development, planning, and implementation of projects, defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.
• Perform site visits to assist with various research project management issues.
• Prepare and present reports defining project progress, risks, problems, and solutions to executives and at public/professional meetings.

Requirements

• Advanced project management experience in a relevant field.
• Ability to manage complex research projects effectively.
• Strong communication skills for liaising with various stakeholders.
• Experience in developing contract requirements or specifications.
• Proven ability to analyze programs or projects and recommend improvements.
