About the position

The NA Manager of Health & Safety at Anaergia is responsible for overseeing health and safety protocols across the North American region, including plant operations, construction services, and commissioning services. This role aims to establish a culture of safety, develop corporate safety policies, and implement training and auditing processes to ensure compliance with safety standards. The manager will work closely with various departments to drive initiatives that aim to reduce recordable and loss time injuries to zero.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a tenacious attitude and unwavering commitment to drive Anaergia's recordable and loss time injuries to zero.
  • Establish a culture of 'safety always' across Anaergia's North American operations.
  • Develop and maintain a suite of corporate safety policies applicable to both plant operations as well as project execution.
  • Identify and implement a root cause analysis program across the Anaergia North American operations.
  • Identify and implement an incident investigation program across the Anaergia North American operations.
  • Work with department managers and site leads to develop 'Issues & Actions' trackers for each operating facility and active projects.
  • Assist transitioning facilities from commissioning to plant operations.
  • Identify and implement a company-wide safety metrics tracking program.
  • Implement a formal safety awards & recognition program.
  • Participate in companywide meetings, conferences, etc. to train, teach, and provide updates regarding company safety policies, programs, and initiatives.
  • Conduct annual review of all Operating Facility and Project execution site's safety inspection procedures, records, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risks.
  • Draft, review, and approve safety standard operating procedures for various departments.
  • Conduct safety compliance audits on site at each Operating Facility and Project Execution site, on request but no less than annually.
  • Ensure all personal protective equipment are calibrated and in compliance, and proper signage is installed correctly.
  • Identify, record, and report unsafe acts or working conditions at the workplace.
  • Investigate and report health and safety related complaints, spills of chemicals, workplace incidents, and near misses.
  • Conduct yearly process risk assessments and identify preventive measures for each operating facility.
  • Maintain site-specific training calendars and training records.
  • Keep site inspection protocols, check sheets, and inspection records up to date.
  • Ensure SDS is kept up to date.
  • Support effective emergency response efforts, if required.
  • Review and approve all contractor's safety plans for operating facilities or project sites.
  • Respond to employees' safety concerns and issues.
  • Ensure the workplace is safe for all workers and address potential hazards.
  • Devise, supervise, and coordinate training programs for new inductions and recurring trainings.
  • Ensure proper reporting, investigation, and corrective action for accidents and incidents.
  • Advise management on compliance with safety laws and regulations through detailed monthly reports.
  • Complete safety and compliance reports in a timely fashion.
  • Review and provide recommendations on site safety audits and work with management to implement improvements.
  • Create and track progress of effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and noncompliance.
  • Demonstrate and apply OSHA regulations and standards to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead, develop, and maintain safety initiatives and programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Certified Safety Officer and/or Industrial Hygienist.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Extensive experience in Plant Operations.
  • Experience with Cal-OSHA is a plus.
  • Experience in the construction or service industry is a plus.
