About the position

The NAEP Policy Analyst position at UC Santa Cruz involves supporting and training NAEP coordinators and ambassadors in state agencies. The role requires expertise in educational assessment policies and practices, with a focus on large-scale assessments. The analyst will conduct research, analyze data, and provide consultation to non-technical audiences, ensuring effective communication of complex educational policies. This position is fully remote and requires adherence to telecommuting guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Researching, analyzing, and developing solutions related to large-scale assessment policies.
• Providing consultation and training to NAEP coordinators and ambassadors.
• Developing training materials regarding large-scale assessment and assessment literacy.
• Monitoring and supporting the NAEP Ambassador program to ensure effective support to Chief State School Officers.
• Conducting ad hoc analytical studies on various educational policies and programs.
• Coordinating implementation with cross-organizational departments or external entities.

Requirements

• Experience using statistical-based tools such as SAS, SPSS, Excel, and/or SQL.
• Recent experience managing contracts for services and/or materials.
• Thorough knowledge of large-scale assessment and research methodology.
• Exceptional skills in delivering engaging training to adult learners.
• Strong organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal, interpersonal, and writing skills.
• Proficiency in developing and reviewing materials for accuracy.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in educational policy analysis.
• Familiarity with the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) framework.
